General information

Name: Isoamyl alcohol CAS-number: 123-51-3 Chemical formula: \(\ mathrm{C_5H _{12}O}\) Appearance: Colorless mobile volatile liquid with a characteristic strong smell of fruit-banana. Solubility: Very poorly soluble in water, immiscible with ethanol, ether, benzene and most organic solvents.

Applications

1. Chemical raw materials: The main intermediate for the synthesis of isoamyl acetate and other esters, which are used as flavors.

2. Perfumery and food industry: Raw materials for obtaining fruit flavors for food and fragrances.

3. Solvent: Used for resins, oils, fats, alkaloids; applied in laboratory extraction.

4. Paint industry: Component of solvent mixtures for varnishes and paints.

Storage conditions
