Name: Ethyl alcohol (ethanol) CAS-number: 64-17-5 Chemical formula: \(\ mathrm{C_2H_6O}\) Appearance: Colorless transparent volatile liquid with a characteristic sharp alcohol odor. Solubility: Infinitely miscible with water, ether, ketones and most organic solvents.

Applications

1. Solvent: Widely used in paint, printing industry, for the manufacture of varnishes, paints, printing ink, adhesives.

2. Pharmaceuticals and medicine: Antiseptic and disinfectant, drug solvent, tincers.

3. Perfume and cosmetic industry: The main solvent for perfume, cologne, skin care products.

4. Chemical raw materials: Intermediate for the synthesis of esters, aldehydes, complex organic compounds.

5. Food industry: Raw materials for the production of alcoholic beverages, extractant of aromatic substances.

6. Fuel: Biofuel component and automotive gasoline additive.

Storage conditions

Store in a special warehouse for flammable substances, the container is tightly closed. Keep away from open fires, sources of sparks, heat and strong oxidizers. Provide good ventilation.
