Name: Benzyl alcohol CAS-number: 100-51-6 Chemical formula: C₇H₈O Appearance: Colorless transparent oily liquid with a soft pleasant aromatic smell. Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, completely miscible with ethanol, ether, aromatic hydrocarbons and most organic solvents.

Applications

1. Solvent. Used as a high efficiency solvent for varnishes, paints, printing inks, epoxy resins, dyes and cleaning formulations.

2. Perfume and cosmetics industry. It is used as a fragrance fixer for perfumes and fragrances, as well as a preservative in skin care products.

3. Pharmaceuticals. Antiseptic, solvent for ointments and injectable drugs.

4. Chemical raw materials. Intermediate for the synthesis of benzyl ethers, benzyl chloride and other organic compounds.
